‘Sargasso’

Created for the Water for Life International exhibition at the Mayan Museum in Cancun

April 11 to 28/2-24

It tells the story of the ancient Sargasso Sea in the mid Atlantic, east of Florida and Cuba. Ocean warming, massive influxes of fertilizer from the Mississippi and as far away the Amazon have caused it to expand exponentially wreaking havoc with its out edges as it gets thicker and stronger as well as wider. In places it has even been known to trap larger marine life, divers have found porpoises and turtles trapped and drowned in its tendrils  at the bottom left are the chemical formulas of the fertilizers most commonly found to be contributing to the problems
